My Philosophy

My philosophy on education stems from teaching practices that promote inclusivity. I believe that children learn best when they feel a sense of belonging, have room for self-expression, are actively engaged in their educational program and environment, and when their physical and mental health is prioritized.
Our early experiences can shape the foundation and the trajectory of our lives. Quality early childhood education provides children with the opportunity to learn the skills and tools they will carry into their adult lives. As an educator, I understand the responsibility I have for ensuring that I provide all children, regardless of their sociocultural backgrounds or developmental needs, with the best overall learning environment.  My philosophy on education stems from teaching practices that promote inclusivity. I believe that children learn best when they feel a sense of belonging, have room for self-expression, are actively engaged in their educational program and environment, and when their physical and mental health is prioritized.

It is my goal to provide children with a safe and nurturing learning environment where they are comfortable exploring their natural curiosities and experiencing the world around them. Children benefit from interactions between adults and their peers and the formation of positive relationships. I see children as strong and capable contributors to their learning journey, and I value the input and diversity that both they and their families bring to the program. Additionally, I recognize the importance of a child-led, play-based curriculum. Through daily observation and regular documentation, I strive to introduce inclusive and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Furthermore, I believe in using positive guidance and allowing children the freedom of choice and the flexibility to make mistakes and learn from them. I model appropriate behavioural expectations, conflict resolution, and self-regulation skills, and empower children to do the same through patience and grace.

Finally, I believe in continuous reflection and self-improvement. I am an advocate for inclusive, positive, high-quality learning environments. I am passionate about issues that affect children and families in the community, and being mindful of these issues to ensure I adopt the best approach that will foster a healthy learning environment. I feel that as an educator, it is important that I also continue to learn about child development, exceptionalities, and mental health and adapt my practices based on the highest industry standards. My teaching style is constantly evolving while also ensuring my practices align with my own core values while ensuring that I am providing children with the best possible learning environment.
